BEIRUT - The Union of Municipalities of Shkif, the Italian NGO CISP and the South Lebanon Water Establishment (SLWE) organized a “Water Day”, within the project “Support to the South Lebanon Water Establishment in strengthening the management of Drinking Water Supply”. The project is funded by the Italian Government in the framework of the ROSS Emergency program for a total amount of over 383.200 Euros.

The President of Union of Municipalities of Shkif, Mr. Samih Hallal, the Director of SLWE, Mr. Ahmad Nizam and representatives of the Italian NGO CISP organized a “Water Day”, within the framework of the project “Support to the South Lebanon Water Establishment in strengthening the management of Drinking Water Supply” funded by the Italian Government in the framework of ROSS Emergency program for a total amount of over 383.200 Euros and implemented by the Italian NGO CISP.

The event took place on Friday, 14th may 2010 in the Governmental School of Hassan Kamel Al Sabbah in Nabatieh in the presence of representatives of the local community.

This initiative aims at improving water resources management and water delivery services through the rehabilitation of existing water supply stations and networks and strengthening the water governance capacity of the South Lebanon Water Establishment in the Caza of Nabatieh and Tyre.

The ROSS Emergency Program is an initiative funded by the Italian Government since 2006 and currently in its third an final phase in Lebanon. Its main objective is to contribute to the rehabilitation and reinforcement of basic services aiming at upgrading the living socioeconomic conditions through a process of local development in general and emphasizing on promoting environment conservation and gender equality.
